Why does my school need a website with online booking?
Because interest has a short shelf life. Every hour an enquiry waits for an answer is an hour the person can change their mind โ or book with someone who answered faster.
Most schools still take registrations through a mix of email, a phone number, an Instagram DM and a form that lands in someone's inbox. All of them have the same flaw: they need a human to reply before anything happens. Evenings, weekends and the week you are teaching a course are exactly when people look โ and exactly when nobody is answering.
A page that takes the booking closes that gap. The student picks the course, sees the free places, pays, and gets a confirmation โ while they are still interested. Nothing waits for you.
It also gives every student an account, which is worth more than it sounds: they can see what they booked, rebook next term in two taps, and keep their pass and receipts in one place. You get a customer list that is actually yours, and the paperwork side โ who paid, what is outstanding, what to hand your accountant at the end of the year โ stops being a spreadsheet you maintain by hand.
I already use a booking app. Why move to my own website?
Because on a portal you are renting shelf space in someone else's shop โ and paying to fill it.
Three costs, all of them quiet. First, duplication: your schedule lives in the app and on your site, and the two drift apart until nobody trusts either. Second, brand dilution: your students land in an app that is not yours, in a design that is not yours, with your name reduced to a logo in a list. Third, and most expensive: the customer belongs to the platform. The account, the email address, the notification and the next recommendation are theirs.
That last one is the part owners underestimate. A marketplace shows your class next to the studios competing with you โ that is the product. You do the teaching, the reputation and the marketing that brings someone to the platform, and the platform gets to show that person everyone else too. You build the brand; they monetise the traffic it creates.
On Ocio the booking happens on your domain, under your name. The student list, the email addresses and the payment relationship are yours, and the only brand on the confirmation, the receipt and the ticket is yours.
My cousin/IT contact can build me a website. Why pay for yours?
A static website and a booking system are different products. The first one is a brochure that ages; the second one takes money while you sleep โ and someone has to keep it working.
The site you get from a web designer is usually a beautiful page with your timetable pasted into it. It looks right on the day it launches. Then the term changes, a teacher leaves, prices go up โ and every one of those edits is a small job for someone who is not you. Six months later the schedule on the site is wrong, which is worse than having no schedule at all.
What you are actually buying from us is not the design. It is a booking, payment and registration system that hundreds of small edits cannot break, with an interface that has been tested by real students on real phones, features that would each take an agency weeks to build, and fewer of the errors that come from software written once and never touched again.
We host it, we maintain it and we keep improving it โ new features arrive without you commissioning anything, and if something breaks, you have a named person to call rather than a contractor who has moved on.
And the honest part about design: your students are not comparing your site to Apple's. They are looking for the beginner course on Tuesday and whether there is still a place. What converts is clear content, current information and a booking that works โ not a bespoke layout.
What does 'ready for the AI age' actually mean for me?
That the next generation of students may never see your website at all โ they will ask an assistant, and the assistant will need to be able to read and book your classes.
People are already starting a search by asking rather than typing. Over the next few years, more of those conversations end with the assistant doing the booking instead of handing over a link. A brochure site is invisible in that world: there is nothing structured for the assistant to read, and nothing it can act on.
We build for the transition, not the destination. Your site is server-rendered with structured data โ every course, class date, teacher and location described in a form search engines and AI assistants can actually parse โ so today it ranks and tomorrow it can be booked from. On top of that, your own assistant answers students' questions on your site and books for them.
This is not a promise about the future; it is the groundwork that makes the future cheap. If nothing changes, you still have a fast, well-structured website. If everything changes, you are already readable.
Will you help me fill the classes, or just run them?
Both โ and the marketing side is deliberately simple, because you do not have a marketing department.
What works today: every course and class on your site has a share link, so putting a class in front of people is one click from the page that already describes it โ no re-typing, no separate poster, and the link always points at a bookable page.
Alongside that: printable fliers generated from your own courses, with a QR code straight to the booking โ so the schedule you maintain once becomes the thing you hand out.
And the part that quietly matters more than any campaign: the automatic follow-ups. A confirmation, a reminder before the class, and the waitlist offer when someone cancels. Filling classes is mostly about not losing the people you already reached.
Questions owners ask us
- Who hosts the website?
- We do. Hosting, updates, backups and security are part of your plan โ there is no server for you to rent and nobody for you to chase when something needs patching. You keep your own domain, and it points at the site we run for you.
- Can I keep my current website?
- We keep your design, not your code: we rebuild your existing look on Ocio so it appears the same and books properly. It is a full build rather than a widget in your old site, and it is quoted separately after a short call.
- How long does it take to go live?
- Days, not months. We set it up for you and enter your schedule, students and passes as part of the setup fee โ you review it, and you go live.
- What does it cost?
- A flat monthly plan, a one-time setup fee, and 1% (min. CHF 0.30) on the payments Ocio processes for you โ on top of your payment provider's own rate. If you prefer to take payment at the studio, we support that too. Every number is on the pricing page; there is nothing else.
- What if I want to leave?
- You take your data with you โ students, bookings, invoices and history โ in open formats, at no charge. We would rather earn the next month than lock you into it.
