  • Week 1: **Barre, rebuilt.** Pliés and tendus with real attention to turnout from the hip, not the knee. We set the standing-leg habits the whole term depends on.
  • Week 2: **Tendu into dégagé.** Speed without losing the floor. Introducing the first centre adagio — balance on one leg, arms in third.
  • Week 3: **Rond de jambe à terre**, then en l'air. The hip stays quiet while the leg travels; that is the whole exercise.
  • Week 4: **Adagio week.** Développé to the front and side, held. Slow is where weakness shows, so this is the honest one.
  • Week 5: **Petit allégro.** Changements, échappés, glissade. Landing through the foot, quietly — if the class can hear you, you are landing flat.
  • Week 6: **Pirouette preparation.** Spotting drills, then quarter and half turns from fourth. Nobody chases a double yet.
  • Week 7: **Pirouette en dehors.** Single turns from fourth and fifth, both sides. Finding the exact moment the arms close.
  • Week 8: **Grand battement and stretch.** Height from the standing side. Second half is a proper cool-down and hip release.
  • Week 9: **Port de bras.** The arms carry the phrase, not decorate it. Épaulement introduced — the head follows the shoulder.
  • Week 10: **Waltz and balancé.** Travelling across the floor in three, with the rise and fall that makes it read as a waltz.
  • Week 11: **Assemblé and jeté.** Getting both legs off the floor at once, then landing on one. Feet before height.
  • Week 12: **Turning sequence.** Piqué turns on the diagonal — spotting under travel, which is a different skill to spotting on the spot.
  • Week 13: **Repertoire week.** A short excerpt from Giselle Act I, learned as a class. Context on what the steps are actually saying.
  • Week 14: **Grand allégro.** Sauté arabesque and grand jeté across the floor. Preparation matters more than the jump.
  • Week 15: **Putting it together.** The term's vocabulary in one long centre combination, taught over the full class.
  • Week 16: **Refining.** Same combination, cleaned — timing, épaulement, the transitions between steps rather than the steps.
  • Week 17: **Open class.** Friends and family welcome to watch the last twenty minutes. Full barre, full centre, the combination danced through.
